Chip:

Chip is a soft, controlled touch on the ball that nudges it forward or upward without sending it far from the car. In Rocket League, the term is used for light touches that keep possession, set up a follow-up play, or redirect the ball over an opponent who is challenging too aggressively.

Chips matter because they help a player control the ball in tight spaces instead of booming it away. A chip can also create a scoring chance by lifting the ball over a defender or goalkeeper. For example, a player dribbling toward goal may chip the ball just over a front-post challenge, then drive in for the finish or collect the loose rebound.
