Blink initiation is the use of a Blink item or Blink-style mobility spell to start a fight by instantly closing the gap to an enemy and opening with a disable or burst.

It matters because it lets a team begin on favorable terms: the initiator appears in position before opponents can react, which can catch supports, force defensive spells, or set up an area-of-effect combo. Good Blink initiation usually depends on vision, timing, and follow-up from teammates, since a lone jump can fail if the target survives or escapes. For example, a Sand King may Blink into the enemy backline and immediately use Epicenter and Burrowstrike to start a teamfight around trapped opponents.
