In practice, GOTV refers to the live spectator feed used for broadcasts and recorded matches, while a demo is the saved replay file that can be opened later for studying utility, crosshair placement, rotations, and missed opportunities. This matters because it lets players and coaches slow down rounds, switch perspectives, and check exactly what happened instead of relying on memory. For example, after a loss on Mirage, a team may open the demo to see when the B-site defense rotated, where a smoke landed, and how the entry frag was created.
